CAMBODIA + PONHEARY LY FOUNDATION 2017
For 11 days, Souljourn Yoga explored the Kingdom of Wonder to support the Ponheary Ly Foundation Girls’ Dormitory that houses, feeds and shelters 60 of the brightest and academically ambitious female students who are from districts in Siem Reap where no secondary education is provided. Cambodia’s rich and intense history is only amplified by the perpetual kindness and perseverance of its people. From daily yoga to lakeside picnics, bike riding through rural Siem Reap, to exploring the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat, getting lost in the textiles and food stalls of the glowing night market, and even trying Khmer cooking, this trip cracked our hearts wide open from the inside out.
The Ponheary Ly Foundation is a US-registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Their mission is to promote access to quality education for children and young people in Siem Reap and Preah Vihear provinces in northern Cambodia. Guided by a UN human rights based approach, their work stems from the basic premise that access to schooling is fundamental to rebuilding the country’s civil society after the genocide of the 1970s. For every participant going on our Cambodia retreats, $300-$500 of the total amount of the cost of the retreat will be donated directly to The Ponheary Ly Foundation and our goal is to match every $300-$500 donation.
With your help, we will be able to meet that goal.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly needed and appreciated.
Please help us to build a generation of educated and empowered young women across the globe.
