Peru + The Sacred Valley Project 2017
For 10 days in Spring 2017, Lisa Bermudez, Souljourn Yoga Secretary, and Joanne Silver, Souljourn Yoga Board Member, took an adventurous group through the beautiful, sacred, breathtaking country of Peru. Life-long memories and friendships were made as the group explored the bustling city of Cusco, the markets in Pisac, mesmerizing landscapes in Arin, ancient ruins and hiking in Ollantaytambo, and historical Machu Picchu - all in the mood of serving the Sacred Valley Project! The SVP provides indigenous girls from the rural highlands of Peru with education, skills & resources to become leaders in their communities.
The mission of the Sacred Valley Project is to provide boarding and supplementary education for young women from low income families in remote areas of the Andes so that they can continue and complete their secondary education. On Souljourn Yoga's retreats to Peru, we spend 1-2 days with the girls. We practice yoga with them and learn about their life in their dorms and what they're achieving in school. For every participant going on our Peru retreats, $500 of the total amount of the cost of retreat will be donated directly to the Sacred Valley Project and our goal is to match every $500 donation.
With your help, we will be able to meet that goal.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly needed and appreciated.
Please help us to build a generation of educated and empowered young women across the globe.
